Are you feeling anxious, tired, irritable, or having difficulty concentrating? Have you been avoiding social events, arguing with your partner, or falling behind at work? You may be experiencing an episode of anxiety.
The great news is anxiety tends to be very responsive to talk therapy. I specialize in treating anxiety, stress, and trauma related problems such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, relationship distress, and PTSD. I also specialize in gay men's mental health and have years of experience working with Washington's LGBTQ+ community. Book a consultation with me today to find relief from anxiety and begin your journey to mental health.
I know the process of finding a therapist can be long and stressful, so I've made my intake process quick, easy, and stress free!

Mental health is my passion. I founded Optimism to create a space where therapists and clients can work together to create a world that is healthier, happier, and more fulfilled. Outside of my work with Optimism, I'm an avid swimmer, runner, cyclist, and dog dad.
I'm so excited you're taking the first step by searching for a therapist. I'd love to work with you, so feel free to reach out with questions or to get started!
Struggling with anxiety, relationship distress, depression, PTSD, a phobia, or social anxiety?
I take advantage of one of psychology's newest and most exciting approaches, a subset of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT ) called positive psychology. It is a structured approach which builds on your strengths, reconnects you with what makes life worth living, and helps you reach optimal functioning. It is rooted in science and individually crafted to fit your needs.
Our sessions will take a structured approach, use action plans between sessions, and work towards the ultimate goal of no longer needing therapy.
I studied psychology at The Ohio State University and received my master's in social work with a specialization in mental health from the University of Washington.
Prior to founding Optimism Counseling, I was a therapist and case manager at Seattle Counseling Service, the nation's first and oldest LGBTQ+ counseling center. While at Seattle Counseling Service, I worked with hundreds of clients treating a wide variety of problems including depression, PTSD, phobias, relationship distress, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, and more.
My previous work experiences include sexual assault services, clinical psychology research, anti-poverty community organizing, and housing case management.
I have been recognized as a Northwest Leader in Behavioral Health and I've been featured in Psychology Today, UpJournal, and Autism Parenting Magazine.
$145 per individual session or $175 per couples session, payable via credit, debit, FSA, or HSA account.
Insurance: I am an in-network provider with Premera, Lifewise, Regence, Aetna, and First Choice Health and considered out-of-network for most other major insurance plans. If I am out-of-network with your insurer, I can provide a superbill which you can submit for reimbursement.
