Optimism Counseling is a group of independent therapists. We serve a wide variety of clients and specialize in serving the LGBTQ+ community.
Beyond being experts in LGBTQ+ mental health care, all of our providers identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
We were founded in 2020. Born during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have recognized the importance of making therapy easily accessible from the start. All of our sessions are provided via telehealth and we've streamlined our intake process to make it quick and easy for clients to get started. Although based in Seattle, we serve clients throughout the entire State of Washington.
Our therapists come from a range of backgrounds, including from some of the top counseling programs in the world such as the University of Washington School of Social Work and from our region's most respected healthcare providers such as Harborview, the University of Washington, and Seattle Counseling Service.
Individual therapy is our bread and butter. We help clients manage a wide range of conditions and problems including anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship distress, life transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, and so much more. Please visit our therapist page to find a therapist that meets your needs or reach out for help choosing a provider.
We also write letters of support, such as emotional support animal letters and letters in support of gender affirming procedures.
Our work extends beyond the therapy session. Advocacy and education are top priorities. As a result, we've been featured in, or have contributed to, numerous publications and public engagements such as Psychology Today, The Seattle Times, Upworthy, Autism Parenting Magazine, and Washington Health Alliance's LGBTQ+ mental health panel.
As a group practice, each of our therapists are independent business owners. This means each therapist is free to practice in a way they find most effective for their clients. Our therapists have the freedom to choose the therapeutic modality they use, the hours they work, the fees they charge, and how best to help each individual they work with.
